A few posts back I got a tip off from a reader about Bellevue Cafe in Kloof, so I decided to do some research. I got the address, set a date and time, and Paul and I ventured up the hill to find it. It was such a beautiful sunny day with a slight chill in the air, so we put on our coats and found a table in the sun.
Bellevue Cafe is where Vanil used to be, situated on Bellevue Road and nestled amongst the leafy trees of Kloof. Attached to the Cafe is an art gallery and a little shop full of trinkets and some really stunning clothing, bags and household paraphernalia.
The Cafe boasts a really scrumptious menu, ranging from bagel breakfasts to delicious steak and rocket paninis, and don’t forget the delightfully sweet pastry table right in the middle of the Cafe for all to see.
Of course we ordered coffee to fight of the Kloof chill, and we marvelled at the many choices on the menu. The coffee was really tasty. Paul and I are not happy when we taste even the slightest bit of bitter and I am all for a milky creamy taste of coffee. This coffee had just that!
It is so worth the trip if you are in Durban. If you live in Hillcrest you have a gem on your doorstep, and is a great morning spot to sip on coffee and read the paper. If you don’t feel like the hustle and bustle of a mall or busy roadside Cafe this spot is the perfect hideaway for you.
I can’t wait to head back there again, hopefully it wont be too far in the future. Although with our wedding around the corner it might just be. Until we meet again… have a wonderful day 🙂
{We took some pics and I’ll upload these soon.}
