Cape Town and all its scenic beauty is home to a rising coffee culture. Amongst the many tourist attractions Cape Town coffee shop owners have taken coffee roasting and brewing to a whole new level of creativity. A perfect fit in this creative city, here is Coffey and Cake’s list of Cape Town’s great coffee shops.
 
Origin: 28 Hudson Street, De Waterkant
This is truly one of those “love at first taste” kind of places. Origin is not only known for its delicious coffee but its elaborate tea selection. Head on into town and visit Origin for a unique coffee or tea experience, you won’t be let down. Origin coffee is also easily available to buy for household use.
 
Haas: 67 Rose Street , Bo-Kaap
A coffee shop to match their creative team of ad gurus, Haas is a fantastic spot to spend a morning getting through those emails. With a wide range of roasts, namely Colombian, Ethiopian, Brazilian and Guatemalan, this coffee shop is definitely a must visit. Take a seat out on the street or cosy up inside to the fresh aromas of brewing coffee. 
BeanThere: 58 Wale Street, Cape Town
This bunch of Fair Traders have created something remarkable, to put it in their own words, “the finest single origin coffee”.  Bean There is a well known coffee shop, originally from JHB and since opening in Cape Town as well. Their coffee is uniquely delicious, as all roasts are from one country and roasted in small batches to give the drinker the most flavoursome taste experience. 
CommonGround Café: 23 Milner Road, Rondebosch
Scenically situated opposite the Rondebosch Common, staring straight towards the mountain, Common Ground Café is the perfect space for a mid-morning retreat. The café is run by artisan baristas, serving a warm cuppa all day long and a menu of sandwiches, pastries and light meals. Why not take a walk around the Common and stop into the café for a fresh juice before heading home.
Truth: 36 Buitenkant Street, orPrestwich Memorial, 1 Somerset Road, Green Point
“Flavour not bitterness. No sugar required” is the motto that these coffee curators live by, and they are doing a fantastic job at that. Truth is a uniquely Cape Town coffee shop and the guys who run it are passionate about making good coffee. A trip to either of their cafes will leave you hooked and wanting more of their tasty brew.  
Motherland: Mandela Rhodes Building, Cnr Wale Street & St Georges Mall
New to Cape Town, Motherland is fast becoming a new favourite. The detail these baristas put into making their coffee is admirable, from sourcing their beans around Africa, to roasting them to perfection. Motherland Original Blend can be purchased for your home, or you can sit down at the coffee shop and enjoy a freshly brewed cup. Another Fair Trade venture and definitely a coffee shop worth visiting soon.  
Starlings: 94 Belvedere Road, Claremont
Set in an old house that has been transformed into a little piece of magic, Starlings is a great Southern Suburbs hideaway. Inside you can enjoy the magical coffee aromas mixed with the goodness of their freshly baked goods, while outside the garden is a calm paradise of fountains and greenery. A recommended must at Starlings is their Flat White coffee and a piece of their delicious carrot cake. 

Peter’s House: 14 Kloof Nek Road, Cape Town
Serving up a good cuppa Bean There coffee and a vast selection of teas and smoothies, coupled with their infamous carrot cake and ice-cream sandwiches, Peter’s House is a little magical hideaway. Games, a reading corner and even knitting for a good cause, this cafe is true to it’s definition of being an unpretentious restaurant. The food is made from the heart, and the service is just as warm. Named after the Beatrix Potter character, the charm of this cafe will most definitely captivate you and have you returning time and again.

Rosetta Roastery: 66 Albert Street, Woodstock

Rosetta Roastery is pure coffee magic, and a treat for ones senses. The coffee shop is rather small but behind the counter and through the large glass windows one can see where all the magic takes places… where the roasting happens.With its sophisticated decor, neat interior and chic black and white branding, Rosetta Roastery has done well to match their superior coffee reputation with their overall brand.

Superette: 66 Albert Street, Woodstock
Run by the organizers of the Neighbourgoods Market, Superette is a Neighbourhood cafe which stocks local fresh produce, craft beer, and serves up coffee from Rosetta Roastery and Deluxe Coffeeworks. A new menu is prepared daily and they even have a special brunch menu on Saturdays. The vibe is chilled, the sun shines in, so make sure you stop in to Superette when you next visit Woodstock. Grab a meal and a cup of coffee, and then mozie through the rest of the artisan stores in Woodstock Exchange, it is a great way to spend your morning.
