While in JHB recently, I put together a Top 10 list and Father Coffee was most definitely my number 1. I had read about it in an article and so on doing some research I got the address and left Joburg’s northern suburbs to head towards Braamfontein.
If Paul and I were to move back to Joburg we would move to Braamfontein. Local businesses and individuals are putting money into the refurbishment of this area and it is the place to be. There are gorgeous renovated flats which tower over the grid-line of small businesses, coffee shops and theatres.
Father Coffee is one of Braamfontein’s great coffee shops. It is only a couple months old and their secret blend of coffee is YUM-O! The coffee shop itself is quite small so this place is perfect for a take away in the morning. Situated at 73 Juta Street, below the Neighbourgoods Market and close to the Alex Theatre, Father Coffee is the next place you should visit when you are passing through Braamies.
Open Monday to Friday: 8.30am - 4pm
Saturday: 9am - 6pm
If you want to get in touch with them you can contact [email protected] or follow them on Twitter @fathercoffee
Oh, and if you are not a huge coffee drinker they also sell “Volcanic Orange Juice” which is supposedly from oranges grown amongst volcanic lava remnants. Worth a try I’d say!
