Duke and Duchess

Highly recommended by a few friends of mine I decided to take a trip down Meridian Drive to find Duke and Duchess. New to the Umhlanga block Duke and Duchess is quickly becoming a favourite coffee shop of mine. Originally just a motorcycle shop, Duke and Duchess now serves up some delicious Colombo Coffee blends as well as a few treats on the side.

As I sit and write this I am enjoying an Aggressive Chocolate Flat White and a mixed nuts crunchie. I am most definitely in my happy place. You know it is a good coffee when you don’t have to add sugar! Duke and Duchess have a scrumptious menu, serving the usual coffee suspects, hot chocolate and red cappuccinos, paired with millionaire shortbread and cakes galore. Their breakfast and lunch menu gives you ample choice, from burgers to steak rolls, avo on toast, and peri peri chicken open sandwiches. You want to eat when you go to Duke and Duchess so make space.

Niki is the head barista and will make you almost any espresso based coffee drink you ask for. The coffee shop is the perfect fit in this trendy motorcycle shop, with its wooden tables and chairs mixed with black and white walls.

I don’t know much about bikes but Duke and Duchess have some VERY cool bikes, helmets (i liked the polka dot one) and all sorts of awesome looking biking gear. I was mesmerized by the Pashley Bicycles… man I want one 🙂 Here is a list of the bikes and accessories that Duke and Duchess stock:
