I just love the power of Social Media, not only because it’s my job but because of all the awesome coffee friends I have made from it. While in Joburg last month a Facebook fan posted on my Facebook Page about a coffee shop in Rosebank called Priest Espressobar. I must admit that I got very excited because all the recommendations I had received prior, I had actually been to already.
So off to Priest Espressobar I went. Researching Priest I found that the company started in Cape Town as a production studio. On setting up another office in Joburg they thought, cleverly, that having an espressobar on site would mean that they wouldn’t have to walk to the cafe everyday for coffee and lunch, they could have it all in one space.
Hence the birth of Priest Espressobar. Located at Shop 1, 142 Jan Smuts Avenue, Rosebank, this coffee shop made me OH SO HAPPY. Vinny the barista is such a great guy and he chatted to us about his passion for coffee and learning more about the art of coffee. His heritage is Chilean and the menu is full of Chilean expressions, including chilenitos (a Chilean pastry).
Priest Espressobar serve Bean There Coffee and while we visited Vinny was using their Burundian single origin bean. Students get discount so this is a great place to get those assignments done people.
The service was awesome, the cheesecake was out of this world good (we were told is a secret family recipe) and Vinny made us a really tasty cup of coffee. What I most enjoyed about our visit to Priest Espressobar was how down to earth and relaxed it was.
The website is more about the production studio but in case you want to read a bit more about Priest just click HERE.
