The Farmer’s Daughter, a homey, Midlands retreat, full of delicious delights and coffee worth writing about. I had heard about The Farmer’s Daughter from my aunt who owns Sentiments, an antique shop in The Patchwood Elephant. So as per my inquisitive nature when I heard The Farmer’s Daughter had opened in the same building I arranged a Midlands trip to go check it out.
I just loved the relaxed vibe that we got as we arrived. It was a sunny day so we sat outside on the lawn and I hastily ordered a flat white. Excited about the fact that The Farmer’s Daughter use Colombo Coffee’s Aggressive Chocolate blend, I knew I was in for a treat. I also knew I was in trouble when as I walked in I saw scones, chocolate tarts, cakes, cookies and all these absolutely mouth watering goodies on display. Mmmmm this place is a foodies heaven.
The Farmer’s Daughter was started by farmer’s daughter Jen Pretorius. Her passion for good wholesome food is what makes this Midlands cafe a real gem. You are sure to see Jen waltzing around greeting guests if she isn’t in the kitchen cooking up the tasty menu options.
Paul and I decided to order a harvest lunch, so we basically got to choose what we wanted from breads, cheeses, cured meets and preserves. As you can see below it was AMAZING!!!!
From coffee and tea, to milkshakes and cake, light lunches, harvest platters, and breakfast treats, The Farmer’s Daughter is a new favourite on the Midlands Meander. As you can see from the pictures above and below, this authentic country cafe really is something special. Jen’s quirky decor accents will surely leave you smiling as you follow house rules like “no elbows on the tables” and “eat your greens”.
